One of the most important issues for me is female empowerment. Since I was young, I have been in quite male-dominant industries, and I early on realized that women have a knack of putting themselves down.
Women, in general, are very fast to tell other women what to do, how to look, and very good or bad to make someone feel included or excluded. While we are teaching our kids not to bully, we forget to look a bit into ourselves and look how we talk and behave to other.
When young girls openly say they want all in life, we call them greedy instead of ambitious. We think we can dictate what other women should do with their body, who and how many they can sleep with, and if we don´t agree, we call them whores. When other women don´t agree with our opinions and view of life, we get hostile, and if anyone dares to question us, we call them bitches or become very condescending. And if anyone dares to stick their head out there we call them attention-seeking. Women who wanna work instead of having children (or while having children) are ice queens etc. etc.
And then we wonder why women still find themselves second, why after so many years, we still see so few female politicians, directors, and entrepreneurs. Instead of motivating and inspire we discourage, instead of creating solutions we create conflicts. But worst off all we start loosing faith in ourselves. We put our self down with words and actions. Our mirror image looks back at us twisted and ugly. And we second guess our choices and ability.
Is not all bad thou - I have met many wonderful and very stong women, who are kick ass, but many of them also have decided to avoid many female communities, they simply don´t have the time or energy to be mocked, or drained for having opinions.
Dear women your look don´t define you, your personality, soul, brain, actions and heart does - Don´t let the insignificant things define you, and let´s all be nicer to each other.
I posted this picture on Instagram for some days ago, with mum-body, scars, impecfections and everything, and the feedback and been overwhelming.
